• Bipolar Express

We had a great Thanksgiving holiday, and I hope you did too. I am still in a turkey coma. The day after Thanksgiving, we took Wells and Lily to Birmingham to ride the Polar Express. Kids wear their pjs, ride a train to the “North Pole”, eat cookies and milk and visit with Santa. They enjoyed it. Wells said his favorite part was riding the elevator at the hotel.

Wells with Santa and Mrs. Claus on last year’s ride. Santa has really aged… and apparently remarried. Poor Mrs. Claus.

We got our first Christmas card in the mail yesterday. It sent me into a downward spiral. Not only do I not have cards, I don’t have a picture. Is it just me, or does this “picture for the Christmas card” thing stress you out? Every card we get has a perfect picture on it. If you ask me, I think people are drugging their children. I have narrowed the choices for our card down to the following. Feel free to vote for your favorite in the comments section.

    #1 The boys

#2 Or maybe you prefer one of the family…

    #3 I’m thinking a lovely trifold card..

It is going to be really tough to decide.

Today is my sweet Mama’s Birthday. She always puts others first. We all call her Nan but that isn’t her name. She is really funny but doesn’t try to be. She watches too much Fox News. So much that my niece says, “Nan, your boyfriend is on TV” when the Glen Beck show is on. She keeps my children every time I ask and is an awesome grandmother. If you run into her today, give her a big hug for me.

Happy Birthday, Nan! You are the best.

  • Happy Saintsgiving

Last weekend SK and I went to New Orleans for the Saints game. That isn’t Steve dressed as a pilgrim. It is some random at the game that I thought looked like the guy from The Hangover. The game was fun, but it was nuts. Everyone but us was wearing Saints attire. Well… everyone but us and the pilgrim guy.

Drew Brees was awesome. He is my boyfriend, but he doesn’t know it. Yet.

There were lots of folks from Jackson in New Orleans for the Ole Miss game. My bestie Candace and her hubby were staying at the same hotel as us, and we hung out Friday night. I know. I am backtracking.

Saturday we shopped and watched the Ole Miss/LSU game on TV. I predicted Ole Miss would win. Glad I didn’t put any money on it.

    Two things-
#1 The Anthropologie in the Shops at Canal Place will rock your face off.
#2 Felipe’s in the French Quarter has the best nachos I have ever had. EVER.

Saturday night we had dinner at Irene’s Cuisine. Love it. Brad and Angelina and all their beautiful babies eat there. Unfortunately, they weren’t there Saturday night. But there was a boil water notice.

I pretended we were famous. I asked the waiter to take our pic and then shouted, “NO photos, please! Can’t we get a little privacy?” Sunday before the game, we went to Magazine Street to look around. My favorite shop is Sucre. YUM.

It was a fun trip, but we were happy to get home to our babies. I am thankful for them (and for my sweet parents that kept them for us). And for the rest of my family. And for you. Awwww. I hope you have a happy holiday.

  • Weekend Update

I know it is almost next weekend, but better late than never. Last weekend was fun. For most of us. G got a haircut. My sweet friend Kristy gave Wells his first haircut and he was an angel. He sat in the chair wearing the cape and didn’t move a muscle. She didn’t hesitate to work G in on a busy Friday afternoon. She obviously didn’t know how strongly he felt about keeping his mullet.

When I told my Mom G got a haircut she almost cried. “Oh no… Not. HIS. Hair! YOU didn’t cut HIS hair!” I didn’t know how strongly she felt about the mullet either.

We went to Stringer on Saturday to play with the cousins.

Sometimes, if I am really good, Lily lets me dress her up and pretend she is mine. Toddlers and Tiaras here we come…

I sang a solo in church Sunday and G had to be removed from the room. As soon as I walked onstage, he started screaming, “MOMMY! MOMMY! MOMMY!” I don’t think he approved of my song choice.

That about does it. I am super pumped because we have tickets to the Saints game on Sunday. Look for me. I will be the one who runs onto the field and sacks the quarterback for non-football reasons. I hope you are having a lovely week.
