Thanks for the comments on the anniversary post. Congrats to lucky ducky, Sara! Sara, email your address to me@thewowie.com, and I will get the bracelet in the mail to you.
Speaking of winning, I won the Eat Jackson Staycation Giveaway. Woot woot! Good thing I knew who my true friends were beforehand.
I hope you had a lovely 4th. We did…
And boy did we need it after the last couple of weeks. More on that later…
Another year has come and gone, and baby blog is TWO. In honor of the big day, I decided to answer some frequently asked questions; like the big girl bloggers. You know the ones. Their inboxes are crammed sooooo full of questions that they can’t respond individually, so they “reply all” via a blog post. Since no one has ever asked me any questions, I had to make up my own.
Your use of punctuation is spot on. Any tips for someone struggling with commas?
Get a proofreader. I have two. I tend to think “less is more” when in comes to punctuation. They do not. At least they let me keep my nonsense words. (Thanks comma guys… y’all are the best)
Does your religion prohibit you from cutting your (or your children’s) hair?
No. I cut my hair every five weeks or so. Who am I kidding? Kristy cuts my hair. But shoulder length is the shortest it has ever been. Dixie told me long ago that I would be fugly with short hair. I am more damaged than my ends.
Do you have a therapist?
No, but I am pretty sure I need one.
When will your book be published?
I have to write one first. What? Everyone is writing a book these days.
Have you ever stuck anything up your nose?
Why yes, actually I have. I stuck a butterbean up my nose when I was around four. My daddy got it out with a fishhook. Later I stuck a pea up my nose. Not sure that one ever came out.
Do you eat carbs/meat/gluten/dairy?
Yes, yes, yes and yes. Preferably all at the same time.
Wow, Wowie… You have stuck with something for two whole years. What are your three favorite posts?
Make sure to take lots of snacks and drinks. And take something for the kids too.
How do you balance having a life AND a blog? I mean really, how do you do it?
I know it may come as a surprise to you, but I am not a FULL TIME blogger. I have a real job. I know the frequency of posts and depth of content made you think otherwise.
I want to visit Mississippi in August. Any tips?
Yes. Don’t visit Mississippi in August.
In honor of the birthday, I am giving away this hammered gold cross wrap bracelet…
Isn’t it rad? I got it at the new Hemline at The Township in Ridgeland. If you live around here, you should check it out. And while you are there, buy me these pants. Thanks.
Leave a comment, and I will randomly select a winner next week. Thanks for celebrating with me!
Hello all. How’s summer treating you? We have been busy. Work, baseball, going to the beach… I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to spend much time getting dressed while on vacation. Or at all during the summer. It is too hot, and there is just too much going on. The following are my favorite products for summer ’12. Some old faves, some new… all perfectly sized for travel.
Hair
Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco Shampoo (This shampoo smells so good!)
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner (A thick conditioner that combats the high humidity in the dirty south.)
Bumble and Bumble Prep (This is a great detangler for kids too.)
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (Spray a little on damp hair for beachy waves.)
Look at all the Bumble… Kristy, you taught me well.
Last but most important, Psssst. Perfect for when you are too lazy for the above steps… which is almost daily for me. Dirty hair, Wowie don’t care.
Skin
Say Yes To Blueberries Cleansing Facial Towelettes (Now in a great travel size… Perfect for eye makeup removal. The cucumber ones are good too.)
Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash (I have been using this for years. Smells so good!)
Bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Cream (This stuff is great, but contains no sunscreen so I only use it if I’m going out at night.)
Josie Maran Argan Oil Moisturizer SPF 40 (You probably remember my love of all things Argan. This is an all natural sunscreen, and contains no harsh chemicals. If you are going to be swimming or outdoors for a long period of time, make sure you reapply or wear a waterproof sunscreen. We don’t want to get singed, y’all.)
Face
Fresh High Noon (This is a great tinted moisturizer that can be used alone or you can mix a tiny drop with your foundation to make it more dewy for summer.)
Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Petal Pink (So easy… just swipe across your cheek bones and blend.)
Fresh Sugar in Coral (SPF 15… The coral is much more vibrant than the other shades of Sugar)
Essie nail polish in Trophy Wife (I tried to do a coral color but I have been rocking ocean blue nails at the beach since Belize in 1997. Not sure it was cool then or now, but I like it. And yes, I am old.)
And the best gloss in the history of the world, a.k.a. Josie Maran Natural Volume Lip Gloss in Optimism (Sheer golden beige… Smells good… Feels good… Get some.)
Body
St. Tropez Perfect Legs Spray (I am one of very few people who “un-tan” at the beach. The spray tan started wearing off mid-week and this was good for a touch up. Not sure I would buy it again because the bottle ran out fairly quickly.)
Bliss Lemon and Sage Body Butter (The nice folks at Sephora gave me this travel size cutie. Dang. I totally missed my chance to use c/o like a fashion blogger. Anyway, I love the scent, and it really moisturizes.)
Bobbi Brown Beach (As if I don’t smell beachy enough already with the coconut shampoo, surf spray and sunscreen…)
Sorry there are no links. WordPress is giving me fits. If WordPress was a person, I would punch him in the throat right now. If you want any info, email me at me@TheWowie.com
What are your favorite summer products? Please share. You know, because I obviously need more products in my life.
