• October strikes again

Every year I look forward to October, and then it totally kicks my butt. This year was no exception.

    There was soccer…

A trip to the farmer’s market for pumpkins…

    A trip to the fair…

    And flag football…

    Some s’mores making…

    A little decorating for Fall…

    Some painting…

    A tailgate…

    More football…

    We got boo’d…

    And boo’d back…

    Went to another fair…

    There was more soccer…

    And a hoe down…

(Whoever was in charge of that pie eating contest did a fantastic job.)

And a tiny production at work…

    A spend the night…

    Some cupcake making…

    And garden growing…

    A Halloween party…

    An office trick or treat…

    (yes, that is a pig)

    And Halloween fun…

(for the first time in forever, I didn’t make candy bags for the trick or treaters because I couldn’t find enough bags… sadness)

    Look at those abs.

…amongst other things. And just like that, it is over. October left me worn out and wanting for more. I need a month to recover before we start talking Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  • friday four

    Happy Friday!

These guys are ready to watch some football. I am ready to talk about this week’s Friday four. Let’s get to it…

    1. Dark Navy Nail Polish

I really like dark nail polish in the Fall. OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark is a long time favorite, but I wanted to try a dark navy instead. I recently picked up Blue Blood by Estee Lauder, and I love it. I mean, as far as nail polishes go. I don’t want to marry it or anything.

    2. Monogrammed Notecards

I also love these chevron notecards from Shop Dandy Boutique. They certainly make note writing more fun. There are lots of cute scarves, dresses and accessories on the website as well. Check it out.

    3. Candy Corn Trail Mix

This stuff is so good… and so addictive. Y’all are gonna think I sit around and eat cookies and candy all the time. I promise I don’t… at least not all the time.

    4. Slipper Genie

How great are these? You simply slip on a pair, and shuffle around your house for a few hours. Bam! Clean floors. And the camel pair will go with everything.

I am kidding. Mostly. Definitely waiting to buy them until they come in children’s sizes.

  • weekend treat

Yesterday morning before church, we made homemade donuts. When I was a little girl, my mama or daddy would make them every now and then for a special treat. I had not had them in years. My kids had never had them, which was the perfect excuse for making them. You start with a can of “whack ’em” biscuits. You know… because you have to whack them on the counter to open them. I thought everyone called them that, but SK said no.

Next, get your little helpers to cut a hole out of the center (using a lid).

Heat some oil in a pan (I chose one with high sides so it wouldn’t be so messy) over medium heat. Drop the “donuts and holes” in and cook until brown. You will need to flip them over once while cooking.

Sprinkle (or dump) powdered sugar on them and enjoy. They were as good as I remembered.

Also, I updated my “about” page. What? It only took two and a half years.
