home again, home again

We are home, and actually have been since last Thursday night. Sorry it has taken me so long to update, but we have been struggling to catch up. Graham is much better, but we still do not know what he had. I took him back to Birmingham on Monday for a follow-up, and his doctor said it was a severe viral infection of some kind. I know exactly what it was… stage 5 booty cooties. I wanted to post a picture of that mess on here, but SK thought it wasn’t a good idea. He makes a valid point. Some of you may read this on your lunch break.

Graham did really well in the hospital. The nurses were wrapped around his little rashy fingers, and they brought him chocolate milk whenever his heart desired. They also wheeled in a flat screen loaded with movies and video games. We watched Toy Store (a.k.a Toy Story 2) at least 57 times. He kept asking me for money, and when I finally dug a quarter out of my purse, he tried to find the coin slot on the bed. He totally thought it was a ride of some sort, and was terribly disappointed when it didn’t work. He also fired me in front of the nurses. As in, “Mama, YOU ARE FIRED.” I almost gave him to one of them at that point. The last day we were there, I was trying to get all our things together. He was running around, and I told him he had to settle down or we couldn’t go home. He replied, “I don’t want to go home… I love it here.” That made one of us.

Thank you all so much for your kind words on the blog, your prayers, phone calls, texts, goodie baskets and balloons. Like I said before, you all made us feel so loved, and we appreciate it more than you will ever know.
