put a ring on it

Have you ever laid eyes on something that you instantly wanted? Needed? Had to have? The connection is so undeniably strong, you can not ignore it. It’s like when Noah and Allie saw each other the first time in The Notebook. Lust Loooove. You can’t stop yourself from thinking about it constantly, even though you know you shouldn’t. That is how I feel about these napkin rings…

Look at them. So sleek. So shiny. I saw them in a shop a couple of weeks ago, and it was love at first sight. Do you see the way they are looking at me? They want me too. I can totally see our future together. They will change my life…

I cook a delicious meal, and we all gather in the dining room. The children are on their best behavior, they eat everything I have prepared and ask to wash the china when we are done. We end the evening sipping champagne and slow dancing to Etta James… in the Hamptons.

Lovely, isn’t it? Why wait, Wowie? Just buy the {overpriced} napkin rings already. Trust me, I tried. Every time I almost seal the deal, I hear this quote in my head…

“They’re rioting in Africa,
They’re starving in Spain,
There’s hurricanes in Florida,
And Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering
With unhappy souls.”

Sometimes you have to tell your heart to shut up and listen to your head. They are only napkin rings. They will not make my kids eat brussel sprouts. Saying goodbye is never easy, but summer romances come and go. Unless I get a 1% off coupon in the mail… in which case, those babies are mine.

  1. I am so impressed with your green thumb. I had no idea you could grow something so beautiful, besides Wells and Baby G. Happy Summer to all!

Loved the picture of Uncle Wells and little Wells. Both are sooo precious. Also loved The Help and am going Wednesday at noon. Let us know what you thought.
